Lieutenant Colonel (LTC) Glen Frisco joined the Tennessee State Guard in 2010 as the 3rd Regiment’s Recruiting and Retention Manager. LTC Frisco works at Citadel Broadcasting as the IT systems manager. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology from Oregon State University and a Master of Science in Strategic Intelligence from the Joint Military Intelligence College in Washington, DC. Colonel Frisco has been a ham radio operator for over 35 years and holds an Amateur Extra class license. He and his wife, Megan, have lived in Maryville since 2001 and have five children. The oldest maintains F22 fighter aircraft in the US Air Force.

US Military: LTC Frisco joined the Air Force right out of college, attended Officer Training School, and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in 1986. He was assigned as a weather officer attached to the 101ST Airborne Division, at Ft Campbell, KY and as an instructor supervisor at the DoD weather school. In 1994, LTC Frisco transferred to the Air Force Reserve. He taught at the Air Force Officer Training School and became the first reserve member to be assigned to the Air National Guard commissioning school at McGhee Tyson Air National Guard Base in Alcoa, TN. He worked in the Pentagon for 3 years, then returned to McGhee-Tyson in 2001 as a senior instructor. He spent the last 5 years of his career as the Executive Officer to the Commander of the school, there. LTC Frisco retired from the Air Force in 2008 as a Lieutenant Colonel with 22 years of service. His citations include 3 awards of the Meritorious Service Medal, the Air Force Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal, Air Force Marksmanship and 2 awards of the Defense Service Medal.

Sergeant Major Robert G. Evans is a 20-year veteran of the U.S. Army who has served in Korea, Okinawa, Vietnam and Germany. He has been awarded the Meritorious Service Medal with oak leaf cluster and the Army Commendation Medal with two oak leaf clusters. His final active duty assignment was as the NCOIC of S-4, 2nd Student Signal Brigade at Ft. Gordon, Ga. As a member of the Tennessee State Guard he has earned the Basic MEMS badge, qualified for the Technician Class Amateur Radio license, and has been awarded the Recruiter's Achievement Ribbon with two stars.


If an applicant can meet the following requirements, the chances are good that he or she will qualify for service in the Tennessee State Guard:
  • U.S. citizen and legal resident of the state of Tennessee (proof required)
  • Age 17 to 67
  • High school diploma or GED (proof required)
  • Prior active duty military service (copy of DD214 required) OR special civilian skills
  • Ability to pass a background check

Persons not eligible for membership are:

  • Prior conviction of a felony, domestic violence, and/or five or more arrests
  • Members of active duty or reserve components of U.S. military forces
  • Anyone not able to fulfill the requirements listed above
